New Translation! I’m Excited About the New Legacy Standard Bible

In case you’re unaware, John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA, has assembled a team of experts to produce an updated translation of the Holy Bible, a Legacy Standard Bible that is essentially a revision of the New American Standard Bible.

A version consisting of the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs was released last week, and my pre-ordered copy should arrive any day. Woo!

I’m excited about the high-profile changes they have announced so far, such as the use of the word SLAVE in the New Testament (because that is what we are in Christ), and the use of the personal name of God, Yahweh, in the Old Testament (because that’s His personal name, and that’s what He instructed His people to call Him).

I’ll elaborate in the future about the use of God’s personal name and why I’m excited about it.

In the meantime, here’s a link to a conversation on YouTube between Brother MacArthur and Brother Abner Chou, associate professor of Bible at The Master’s University, who is heading up the project: https://youtu.be/-ZkBjuS2DKA. (As always, please pardon the ads on YouTube.)

Also, if you’re interested in learning more, in downloading a free copy of Paul’s Letter to the Philippians in PDF format, and/or signing up for a free download of the Gospel of Mark via email, check out this link: https://lsbible.org/.

May the Lord be with your spirit.
